On the basis of the meeting held with Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh: MP Tony Frangieh Approves Formation of Committee to Develop Executive Policies and Plans of Digital Transformation Strategy in Lebanon

BEIRUT – The Chairman of the Information Technology Committee of the Lebanese Parliament, MP Tony Frangieh, has agreed to the formation of a technical committee specialized in digital transformation. The Committee will include several members from trade unions, associations and specialized bodies to work under the umbrella of the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee.

The establishment of the Committee comes as a result of the meeting held between MP Frangieh and Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), discussing the steps and legislation necessary to carry out the digital transformation strategy as approved by the Lebanese government.

Accordingly, the Committee will work on developing the necessary plans and strategies, as well as studying the digital transformation implementation process by the Lebanese government. That is in addition to submitting recommendations to the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee for review and submission  to the concerned authorities.

The Committee comprises several members; including, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee, Digital Transformation and Governance Network, French-Lebanese Association for Technical Sciences, Arab Lebanese Council, Initiatives and Decisions Organization – MwK (Moubadarat Wa Kararat), Lebanese Association for IT Professionals. In addition to the Professional Computer Association of Lebanon (PCA), the Lebanese IT Syndicate, the National Association for Science and Research, the Lebanese Information Technology Association, the Lebanese Innovators Association, and the International Center for Humanitarian Justice(Human Action), in addition to a legal expert.

The Committee agreed to hold its first meeting in the next few days to discuss the agenda, assign roles and responsibilities, and discuss the key steps of the digital transformation strategy.
