Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Calls for the Lifting of Education Sanctions on Syrians

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and Chairman of TAG.Global, a world-leading provider of consulting and education services, calls for the lifting of education sanctions against Syria. The United States has been a leading force in global education, lifting millions out of global illiteracy, bridging the education divide and building digital economies globally.

TAG.Global urges the US administration to remove all sanctions and embargoes related to education against Syria, so that millions may be afforded the chance to obtain an education a fundamental human right.

The United States has always supported education initiatives in the region, particularly through UNRWA and others, and is the foremost leader of international educational development which has been a prime objective of the US and its allies. I myself was the recipient of a UNRWA scholarship that allowed me to pursue my University education in Lebanon.

It is in the interest of nations across the World to promote education in Syria, which as we are all aware allows the development of modern, tolerant societies. It is also true that greater peace and understanding come about between educated people, helping to break prejudices and build bonds between men and cultures.

We must help Syria avoid falling into the vicious cycle of education depravation and do our utmost to support the children in the country that are desperately looking to better themselves and their families through the vehicle of education.

Educated people are friends of the United States and the World. The lifting of sanctions on education in Syria would be valued as a gift  from the United States to the Syrian people during these challenging times.

Please help us in calling out to the US administration for the permanent lifting of education sanctions against Syria by supporting this petition.
