TAG-Confucius Institute Participates in the ‘International Day’ at Al-Hussein Technical University

AMMAN – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius) has participated in the 2nd International Day held by Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU), along with many other representative institutions from Jordan, China, The USA, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, India and Mexico.

TAG-Confucius was represented at the event by Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, Confucius Jordanian director; Ms. Yang Songfang, Chinese director, and Ms. Randa Al-Yabroudi, deputy director (jordan), in addition to the Institute’s teachers, along with about 500 other participants from various institutions.

The event consisted of two sections: performance and booth activities. In the performance section, Ms. Yabroudi performed Tea Ceremony where she wore a traditional Chinese costume Qipao and showed the brewing skills of Chinese tea in a beautiful manner. After the tea ceremony, the teacher Li Tengfei performed Chinese martial arts.

The Institute’s booth displayed Chinese books and periodicals, TAG-Confucius brochures, calligraphy, traditional Chinese costumes, cultural stuff, Chinese food, chopsticks and  panda protection initiative. There was an endless stream of students in front of the booth.

The students actively experienced other activities, where they had photos taken with Chinese costumes and Chinese names that the teachers wrote with brush for them. Additionally, TAG-CI Director Yang Songfang gave them Chinese bookmarks as gifts.

At the end of the event, International Relations Officer at HTU, Ms. Leen Aljadid thanked TAG- Confucius for its strong support to the International Day and hoped to cooperate with the Institute in teaching the Chinese language in the future. 

The Confucius Institute is not only a Chinese language teaching platform, but also an important window for people around the world to understand China. The cultural activities of TAG-Confucius in this event helped Jordanian teachers and students further understand Chinese language and culture. In the future, TAG-Confucius will continue to contribute to Sino-Jordan people-to-people exchanges in a wide range of ways.
