Abu-Ghazaleh Inaugurates ‘Women, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Investment’ International Conference

AMMAN – Under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), the ‘Women, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Investment’ International Conference, organized by the Knights of Peace Society, was inaugurated.

The Conference convened with the participation of representatives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, Lebanon, Tunisia and Jordan. The conference Guests of Honor, who also attended, included  HE Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi from the UAE, Shaikha Mariam Bint Hamad Al Khalifa from Bahrain, and Dr. Essam Sharaf from Egypt.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh extended his thanks to Dr. Amin Abu Hijleh, head of the Society and president of the Conference, for the important theme of the Conference that highlights the role of women in society, saying that ‘women don’t need empowerment since they are capable and competent in all fields;  they only need an opportunity’.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to the experience of the Arab Women Media Center, describing it as “a successful experience that consists of a group of women who imposed themselves on society after proving their distinguished performance by seriously carrying out their responsibility in the media; such as journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.” He, thus, urged all women to create their own entities that bring them together according to their fields of expertise to prove their superiority; while at the same time, developing their professions without the need for man’s support.

Concerning sustainable development topic, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated that "We need a general law that applies to the whole world, not for every country separately, because planning for sustainable development can’t be achieved in light of laws that allow imposing unilateral sanctions to cut off the supply chain from one country to another".

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized the need to move towards genuine development; where every country secures its fundamental food, medicine and technology supplies in order to ensure continuous progress and growth, as well as to achieve national security. He noted that inability to secure basic needs for citizens, would force the country to rely on supply chains that could be disrupted at any moment.

For his part, Dr. Abu Hijleh thanked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, for patronizing the Conference, and he also thanked the other guests of Honor. He emphasized that Jordanian women have made significant progress, thanks to the efforts and support of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah.

It is worth mentioning that the participants discussed various topics, including, role of expatriate women in community development, support for small and digital projects, women's roles in community empowerment, the impact of digital development and leadership in legal proceedings, ways to develop entrepreneurial education for women's leadership, digital transformation, in addition to other topics.
