‘Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum’ Participates in the 1st University Academic Media Forum

AMMAN- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), has participated in the First University Academic Media Forum; organized at the University of Jordan (UJ) under the title: ‘Issues Facing Youth and Problematics of Modern Education’.

During the event, held under the patronage of UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat, in the presence of a host of professors, experts, specialists and faculty members. Dr. Obeidat said that the media reflects the bright image of a country and that the university media is an integral part of it. He stressed that media at universities should also reflect and highlight their achievements, their scientific and research development, the successes of their students and their issues of concern.

Participants discussed a number of topics during the sessions including Challenges of Academic Media, Issues facing Students and Youth in Media, New Media and Youth Work, and Reality and Challenges of Digital Education and Media.

Representative of TAG.Global, Mr. Fadi Daoud, executive director of TAG-KF and TAG.Global Education and Youth consultant, said that science and information are now accessible to all through the internet, which necessitates providing the youth with the digital skills that help them search, analyze and find out accurate information as a result of the tremendous information explosion in the digital age.

Mr. Daoud noted that using digital tools in this technological age is considered an enabler to the educational process that is irreplaceable. Accordingly, he believes that digital learning should not be regarded as an alternative to face-to-face education, but rather as an enabler and a supporter.

“The role of teachers or faculty members has been developed to facilitate the access of students to information. The significance of this role is in teaching skills and mechanisms of getting information using technology,” Mr. Daoud said.

It is worth mentioning that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF) was established as a non-profit charitable organization funded by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation (TAG-Foundation), the CSR arm of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global. It seeks to propose programs, legislation and procedures to decision-makers on all economic policies that ensure Jordan's transformation into a knowledge-based society.
