‘Abu-Ghazaleh Global’ Takes Part in Arab League’s Celebration of Arab Literacy Day
CAIRO – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) has participated in the celebration of the Arab Literacy Day upon an invitation from the Secretariat General of the League of the Arab States (LAS) – (the Social Affairs Sector, the Education and Scientific Research Directorate) at the League headquarters in Cairo.
The celebration was held in the presence of representatives from the Arab countries, engaged entities fighting literacy in the Arab countries, and members of the Higher Coordination Committee of the Arab Literacy Decade, in addition to a host of university presidents.
In her address at the event, Ms. Samar AlLabbad - TAG.Global Deputy Chair, announced that TAG.Global, represented by its Chairman HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, has paid constant attention to providing education and capacity-building services at all levels, since it had been founded fifty years ago. She affirmed the Organization’s pride in working within the League’s Higher Coordination Committee of Arab Literacy Decade (2015-2024) team as a representative of the private sector.
She added that since the objectives of the Arab Literacy Decade have been identified, TAG.Global introduced two programs that mainly focused on serving both the Alphabetical and Digital Literacy including the Arabic Fluency program and the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International Diploma in IT Skills (TAG- DIT). Ms. AlLabbad also stressed the need for providing accredited programs in accordance with standards developed by the Committee to serve and to achieve the goals of the Arab Decade of Literacy.
Moreover, Ms. AlLabbad highlighted the importance of Digital Literacy, which is imperative to find solutions and programs in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, especially after the changes caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in terms of the use of technology in various sectors including education, health, food, and others. She further reaffirmed the need for taking digital knowledge into account to eradicate illiteracy in all its forms in order to reach an integrated knowledge-based society.
It should be noted that TAG.Global has recently developed the Arab Literacy Decade website - a major reference for the Arab countries' achievements in the field of fighting illiteracy. The website has been announced during the celebration. TAG.Global will continue to host, manage, and update the content of the Arab Literacy Decade’s website until 2024, due to the importance of this project and its significance as a reference for the achievements, actions, and efforts of the Arab countries to eradicate all forms of illiteracy.

the Secretariat General of the League awarded TAG.Global representative, by Mr. Salah Abu Osbeh, chair of TAG.Global Management Board, a certificate of appreciation.
