Lebanese President Michel Aoun: Abu-Ghazaleh is a Man of Achievement

BEIRUT - Lebanese President, HE General Michel Aoun, received in his office at the Baabda Presidential Palace, Mr. Burhan Al Ashkar, executive director of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), who conveyed to His Excellency an oral message from HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of TAG.Global, expressing his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims of the Beirut Harbor explosion on August 4, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

During the meeting, Al Ashkar reviewed the development stages of TAG.Global, starting in Lebanon in 1972,  highlighting TAG.Global’s various contributions to all sectors with professional services and modern technologies. 

He also briefed the President, on the plans of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s remote learning project initiated by TAG.Global years ago, which became a necessity under Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Al Ashkar affirmed TAG.Global’s readiness to support Lebanon’s efforts in developing education in this regard.

Al Ashkar also informed the President of TAG.Global’s readiness to submit proposal to the World Bank and the other different donors to finance an educational project under which more than 300 thousand laptops and tablets will be made available to university and school students in the country, noting that the project will be submitted as an invitation for bidding that allows all relevant companies to participate in for the service of public interest. 

For his part, His Excellency President Aoun expressed his gratitude to Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh highlighting his long record of successes. He pointed out   that Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh is a well- recognized for his achievements in the fields of science and knowledge.

President Aoun also emphasized the critical need to speed up efforts to ensure the provision of electronic devices for students at the Lebanese schools, to continue their education remotely due to the current difficult circumstances, emphasizing that e-learning has become an urgent need to keep pace with the latest development in the education sector globally.

President Aoun highly praised international efforts by different brotherly and friendly countries, and international organizations such as the UNESCO that aim at renovating schools affected by the Beirut Harbor blast, expressing hopes that TAG.Global would play an effective role in coordination with UNESCO to provide schools with necessary electronic devices as soon as possible.
