TAG-Confucius Conducts First 2013 Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK)

The HSK is an international standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives

AMMAN----January 17, 2013-------- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius), the official testing center for China's HSK examinations (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), conducted the first HSK examination for the year 2013.

The HSK is an international standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives.

Mr. Zhang Chengyu, Dean of the TAG-Confucius Institute said: “This first examination in 2013 marks a new beginning for the Chinese learners as well as the Institute. It is different because many of our students are taking higher levels of the examination, and four students even attended HSK Level 4, which focuses on Chinese characters and is much more difficult than the first three levels.”

The Institute will be conducting another three or four HSK and Youth Chinese Examination (YCT) examinations this year, in order to meet the rising demand from the students who want to take and pass the exams of different levels for the purpose of applying for scholarships to study in China, going to do business in China, or just trying to know and understand the language and culture.
In 2012, the Center conducted three HSK Examinations and one YCT for more than 100 students.
