DUBAI------December 11, 2012------ HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) will deliver the keynote address at the event which will witness the participation of  Mr. Adam Kulach, Head of delegation of EU to the Gulf and KSA, Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, secretary general of the Association of Arab Universities, and Mr. Fahem Al-Nuaimi, CEO of ANKABUT

DUBAI- December 12, 2012- Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan, UAE's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the 2nd International Platform on Integrating Arab e-infrastructure in a Global Environment e-AGE 2012 will be held December 12-13, 2012 at Zayed University in Dubai, in coordination with the Emirates Advance Network for Research and Education (ANKABUT) and the National Research Foundation - Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in UAE.

Under the theme “Collaborate towards developing the regional e-Infrastructures," the Integrating Arab e-Infrastructure in a Global Environment which is being held for the second year, aims among other things, to promote opportunities for cooperation between networks of research and education in the Arab countries, Europe and North America; and to expand the framework of effective participation of e- infrastructure linking the Arab Organizations for research and education to the world.

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) will deliver the keynote address at the event which will witness the participation of  Mr. Adam Kulach, Head of delegation of EU to the Gulf and KSA, Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, secretary general of the Association of Arab Universities, and Mr. Fahem Al-Nuaimi, CEO of ANKABUT.

This platform attracts large number of participants, among them, ICT experts, policy and decision makers, heads of stakeholder institutions and international organizations, experts of e-infrastructures of the Euro-Mediterranean, Pan-Arab, Africa, Asia, and North American regions, academia and active researchers, together with high-level representatives from the League of Arab States, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the European Commission (EC) Directorate General Information Society and Media (DG INFSO).

The Platform is organized by the Arab States Research and Education Network GmbH, in cooperation with Ankabut, National Research Foundation, UAE, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, Association of Arab Universities, Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe Ltd (DANTE), Euro-Mediterranean Connect project (EumedConnect3), US Internet2 Special Interest Group Middle East, German Jordanian University and Co-ordination & Harmonization of Advanced e-Infrastructures for Research & Education Data Sharing (CHAIN - REDS).

The event will tackle, National and Regional Research Networking experiences, experience, policies and funding, Research collaboration and joint research projects, e-Libraries and scientific content access services, e-Infrastructures in the fields of storage and hosting of content delivery and Network communication tools and Sustainability of R&E Infrastructures in addition to others.

The "First International platform" was held in Amman under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein December 12-14, 2011, and was attended by more than 200 global figures from 30 countries.
