Launch of Production Lines for the First Arab Products of Tablets and Laptops In Partnership between the Arab Organization for Industrialization and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Under the Slogan ‘Made in Egypt’ According to the 4th Industrial Revolution Standards
CAIRO – HE Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), Ms. Nevin Jameh, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Lieutenant Gen. Abdel-Moneim El-Terras, chairman and CEO of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), and HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), witnessed the launch of the joint manufacturing production lines for tablets and laptops in accordance with the Fourth Industrial Revolution Standards.
The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister of Education and Technical Education, Major General Mohamed El-Zallat, Head of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), Dr. Mohamed Abdel Karim, Executive Director of the Industry Modernization Center, Eng. Ahmed Mekky, CEO and Board Member of BCB, and Eng. Mohamed Mohsen, CEO of Si-Vision.
Dr. Amr Talaat praised the partnership between the AOI and TAG.Global that serves as a successful model of integration between public and private sectors in enhancing local electronics industries efforts. He affirmed that the MCIT works in accordance with a specific strategy that aims to make Egypt a leading regional center in electronics design and manufacturing, thus implementing the Presidential initiative, ‘Egypt Manufactures Electronics’. This initiative strives to strengthen national manufacturing, and to enable Egyptian manufactured products to double its electronics exports.
Dr. Talaat further affirmed that the MCIT plays a significant role in creating an attractive environment for world-leading corporations to establish and operate new factories in Egypt especially in the electronics industry, pointing out that cooperation is maintained with international companies for investments in minds and in building capabilities with the aim of developing national capabilities in electronics manufacturing and design. He pointed to the Ministry’s collaboration with the AOI to benefit from the outstanding manufacturing potentials the Organization possesses in light of constructive cooperation with all the country’s institutions engaged in implementing Egypt's digital strategy.
Ms. Nevin Jameh, Minister of Trade and Industry, stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships with the international technological companies in transferring advanced industrial technologies into national industries, pointing out that national projects producing tablets and laptops devices represent a basic manufacturing pillar of advanced electronic devices in Egypt, to meet domestic market needs, as well as exporting to regional and global markets.
For his part, ‘El-Terras’ stated that this Arab manufacturing plan implements the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for strengthening domestic manufacturing, as well as reducing imports of the educational matrix tools, computers, tablets, smart labs and modern technological devices. He also welcomed cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global, and highly commended its manufacturing capabilities and expertise in manufacturing tablets, laptops and technological products in accordance with the highest international quality standards.
El-Terras further elaborated: “We are celebrating today the launch of laptop and tablet production lines in partnership with TAG.Global, as well as the localization of modern technology in this field by benefiting from the distinguished manufacturing and human potentials of the Electronics Factory affiliated with the AOI.” He also pointed out that the Arab Organization for Industrialization aims, through such a cooperation, to manufacture an Arab product under the slogan ‘Made in Egypt’ to meet the needs of educational and training institutions including laptops and tablets in Egypt, while aiming to expand in the future in the African and Arab markets, providing them with high quality products at affordable and competitive prices.
Moreover, El-Terras added that the AOI significantly contributes to the manufacturing of components with plans to increase the proportion of the domestic component in the coming years, affirming that partnership with TAG.Global represents an important step towards reinforcing domestic manufacturing and localizing technology of manufacturing tablets and laptops in Egypt, the Arab and African regions.
On a related subject, AOI Chairman expressed his great confidence in the Egyptian and Arab youth who are capable of dealing with the latest technological advancements in electronics, communications and information technology, affirming that the AOI devote its manufacturing capabilities to promote plans for the development and modernization of education for Egypt, and its Arab and African brethren countries in conformity with the latest smart technologies.
For his part, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh highly praised the Arab Organization for Industrialization and its advanced potentials that enable it to localize advanced electronics technology, expressing his great pride in the partnership with this highly-reputed official Egyptian institution “whose national Egyptian-Arab history we cherish.”
He also said: “We are honored to place all TAG.Global’s professional and technological capabilities at the service of Egypt.”
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also affirmed that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global transferred and localized modern technology, and supplied the latest production lines and smart electronic components in partnership with the AOI, in addition to training human cadres at the Electronics Factory affiliated with the AOI on manufacturing laptops and tablets in accordance with the highest global quality standards of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
In a related context, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that TAG.Global developed an ambitious plan to establish tablet and laptop production lines in Egypt, Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman for the localization of modern technology and training of human cadres in the field of electronics industry. Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also noted that enhancing cooperation with several other Arab States is under consideration to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships with the Arab countries for the purpose of manufacturing Arab products namely, tablets, laptops and smartphones with specification tailored to the needs of modern education systems.
