Joint Egyptian-Arab Cooperation for Education Development Cooperation Agreement between Egypt’s Education Development Fund (Council of Ministers) and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global

CAIRO – Egypt’s Education Development Fund; affiliated with the Council of Ministers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) to jointly collaborate in various fields, most notably education development.

The MoU was signed in the presence of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of TAG.Global, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Elhewy, Secretary General of the Education Development Fund. 

Accordingly, it was agreed on cooperating and working together, in addition to signing an MoU that covers several areas such as joint work between the Fund and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation (TAGUCI) to establish a branch of the College at Egypt’s technological universities affiliated with the Education Development Fund.

It was further agreed to establish a branch of a technological university college (institute or school) affiliated with the Education Development Fund in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Amman, in addition to establishing the first Talal Abu-Ghazaleh innovation and creativity incubator specialized in information technology and its applications in various fields (between Egypt and Jordan), as well as exchanging expertise, human cadres and training materials between the two parties to meet the challenges the world is currently experiencing by maximizing the use of technology.. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his appreciation of the wise leadership of Dr. Ahmed Elhewy, the Secretary General of the Education Development Fund, in implementing the directives of the Egyptian state which pays a considerable attention to youth capacity building in all fields that positively contribute to developing the country economically and socially. 

Elhewy underlined the importance of capacity-building and the implementation of the recent assessment system which involves labor market representatives and stakeholders at schools and universities of technology with the aim of bridging the labor market needs, and improving education ranking in the Global Knowledge Index.

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the need of changing the Arab universities to become smart and digitally-driven universities, as well as developing the technological infrastructure of universities in implementation of the new global shift towards distance education. That is in addition to the use of information technology and artificial intelligence technologies in projects with economic, developmental and social benefits and the digitalization of educational facilities. He also underlined the importance of conducting scientific research for the purpose of innovation and creativity.

Due to the importance of digital transformation, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to the establishment of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for Technology (TAGTech) to become one of the specialized companies producing information and communication technology, manufacturing so far 15 technological devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones with high specifications at competitive prices in the Arab region. 

Further, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the need of applying new and emerging advanced technologies to address the current educational situation to be applied in the Arab countries, and developed to graduate creative, innovative and inventive generation. 

For his part, Elhewy indicated that this cooperation grants the two parties the opportunity to exchange expertise, thereby, creating a paradigm shift in the Arab countries in different fields, on the basis of exploiting the potentials of science and technology to meet the global technological challenges of the 21st Century, as well as to introduce the new image of the Arab region. 

Elhewy also pointed out that the MoU includes the establishment of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for Innovation and Creativity Centers in different educational and technological fields, in addition to cooperation in establishing e-platforms, software and digital transformation in education, as well as consultations by TAG.Global to Egyptian educational institutions at all levels. 

Elhewy concluded that cooperation would also be maintained with TAG.Global through the provision of consulting and translation services, in addition to organizing workshops, training courses and conferences to raise awareness on the importance of protecting Intellectual Property Rights, trademarks and patents. 

It is worth mentioning that cooperation would further cover the fields of training, capacity-building, English language programs accredited by global institutions, leadership training programs, restructuring, professional and technical training, specialized professional certifications and ‘accounting for non-accountants’ programs, and, besides, conducting feasibility studies and tenders.
