Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh hosted by Coventry University BDr. Abu-Ghazaleh hosted by Coventry University Branch Campus at The Knowledge Hub Universities in Cairo to talk about “COVID-19 Socio-Economic Consequences"

AMMAN -  His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chair and Founder of "Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global" (TAG.Global) has been hosted by Coventry University Branch Campus at The Knowledge Hub Universities in Cairo under the umbrella of El Sewedy Education Foundation for an online discussion, titled "The Social and Economic Consequences of COVID-19: Insights from the Middle East , North Africa Region”. The session took place in the presence of a large audience that included the university faculty members, administrative staff and students.

Coventry University was established in Egypt through a partnership agreement between the British Coventry University and the (El-Sewedy Education Foundation) under a successful leadership of its CEO Ihab Salama.

The session was moderated by Professor Christian Richter, Dean of the Faculty of Business at the Coventry University Cairo Branch. He expressed the university’s pride and gratitude by the President Prof. Mahmoud Allam in hosting Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, highlighting his long educational and professional journey that started from scratch and culminated in building a large group (Tag-Global) of international reputable companies.

During the session, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh reminded the audience that he was the first to call on teachers to develop a new educational system, to reinvent and to change traditional teaching methods, and to help create and graduate innovators rather than job seekers.

During his excellency’s word, Abu-Ghazaleh advised students to focus on self-learning and obtaining their educational needs and knowledge from sources other than just schools and universities, indicating that he personally took the path of knowledge in the field of intellectual property which has now become  "Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP)" one of the world's leading companies in the field of Intellectual property.

Moreover, Abu-Ghazaleh clarified that the world needs to coexist with Corona, especially since current business plans, programs and strategies cannot be developed to meet the requirements of health, economic prosperity and the future of human civilizations.

He pointed out that during the 2020 economic crisis, which he had predicted since 2018, China was the only country that was not affected by it because its leader, President Xi Jinping said: “While we fight corona we should  at the same time protect our country and our economy."

Abu-Ghazaleh revealed that the only companies in the world that are currently surviving and booming are those involved in technologies related to Covid-19 needs, and the provision of related services during this pandemic, such as hospitals, clinics and medical laboratories.

With regard to the corona virus vaccine, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh indicated that it is a temporary solution, and it can become permanent if a global leadership would emerge to manage world affairs, and to put an end to the prevailing trend where every country is placing its interests ahead   of all other countries under the motto “My Country Comes First, unmindful of what is best for all of us.

Dr. Abu Ghazaleh also stressed the importance of the relationship between the global economy and medicine, saying:  this epidemic will not end without joint global coordination," adding that the priority should not only be for the older generations, but the younger generation which represents the future.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh concluded by answering inquiries from participating students, who attended digitally from several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.

Meanwhile, Professor Richter thanked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his participation in the session.

The session is the first that comes in a series of sessions and panels organized by the university to host international figures who share their expertise and thoughts with university representatives and students.
