‘Abu-Ghazaleh Global’ Announces the Relaunch of its ‘Computer Refurbishment’ Project

AMMAN - The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Computer Refurbishment Program (TAG-CR), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), -which was interrupted by the corona crisis- has announced the relaunch of the non-profit project. HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of TAG.Global, was entrusted with this undertaking by the United Nations.

The project goal is to refurbish old computers and to donate them to institutions and associations who could not afford new ones for their work.

TAG-CR Director, Mr. Ala'a Al-Tall, pointed out that TAG.Global, has been working on this project since 2008, stating that the project aims at collecting old and unusable computers from donors to provide refurbished PCs to the underprivileged schools, foundations and charities.

“The project is the outcome of cooperation between government and private sectors along with TAG.Global with the aim to enhance  corporate social responsibility commitment towards the underprivileged areas,” Al-Tall said.

He further noted that the project crystallizes the vision of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh that every individual should own a personal computer to build and enhance their personal capacities and skills.

It should be noted that the government supported the project and the Prime Minister issued a circular to all government ministries and entities asking them to donate their old and unusable PCs for the benefit of the project – an initiative by the UN Secretariat – and most of the ministries and government agencies and institutions responded favorably.

Meanwhile, Al-Tall called on all government, private and diplomatic entities that wish to donate their devices to communicate with TAG.Global for that purpose. He also invited all those who wish to benefit from the project to contact TAG-CR, affirming that the TAG.Global is ready to provide different eligible associations and entities with the refurbished computer.

He concluded that the project aims to provide support to the youth by availing the required knowledge tools, considering that the future is based on advanced information and communication technologies.
