Abu-Ghazaleh and Chairman of Jordan Hotels Association Discuss Latest Tourism Developments
AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), received in his office Eng. Abdul Hakeem Mahmoud Al-Hindi, chairman of Jordan Hotels Association (JHA) and vice chairperson of Jordan Tourism Board, where they discussed the latest economic developments in general, but the problems the Jordan tourism sector in particular; the sector considered worst-affected, and the last to recover, from the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
In this regard, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that the impact of COVID-19 will cast its shadow on the Jordanian economy for around three more years, referring to the need to change the mentality of investors and to introduce new consideration in the hotel sector, based on adapting hotels to accommodate permanent residents, in addition to establishing solar panels to reduce the electricity bills in the hotel industry.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the significant role the JHA played during the corona crisis as well as its tremendous efforts in collaborating with the National Center for Security and Crises Management.
For his part, Al-Hindi expressed his thanks and gratitude to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his warm hospitality, and he highly commended his great achievements over the years, particularly the creativity and the vast experience he gained throughout his life journey.
Regarding the role played by hotels to quarantine people retuning to Jordan during the coronavirus crisis and providing them with best services, by putting the hotels at the service of the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Al-Hindi said that the Association’s efforts were driven by the sense of national commitment, patriotism, in compliance with the wise leadership and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II. Meanwhile, he called for relaxing procedures taken by the government towards the tourism sector in general and hotels in particular as all sectors have been badly affected without exception.
At the end of the meeting, Al-Hindi, on behalf of the Jordanian Hotels Association, presented Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh an honorary and appreciation shield in recognition of his outstanding efforts.
