Abu-Ghazaleh Unveils his Expectations for 2021

AMMAN - Well-known economist, Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), predicted that Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will last for at least four years, even with the availability of the vaccines.

During an interview with Mr. Osama Kamal, presenter of ’90 Minutes’ program aired on “Mehwar” Egyptian TV Channel, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh reviewed his predictions for 2021, stressing that COVID-19 will remain for the upcoming four years. Referring  to a statement by the World Health Organization (WHO) stating that the measures taken by countries such as imposing curfews are useless, he affirmed  that the pandemic would not end unless all human beings around the world have been vaccinated at the same time.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also pointed out that the economic situation will continue to deteriorate, as 2021 would be even worse than 2020 and the world will be experiencing years of Great Depression.

Additionally, he stated that the world's superpowers are the US, China and Russia, yet, he considered China as the world’s number one economy due to its superiority in the fields of science and technology. " Whoever controls the economy, controls political and military powers.” he said.

He also stated that the world is awaiting the biggest event on Wednesday (January 6, 2020) in the United States, since the congressional joint session of the two chambers (the House of Representatives and the Senate) will convene to certify the Electoral College votes, and accordingly, will decide the final results and who the winner of the Presidential elections will be; the results which will decide the future of America, and subsequently the future of the whole world.

However, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh explained that Donald Trump is mobilizing his supporters in front of the Congress to ‘stop the steal’ and to prevent any decision that may not approve him as the winner at least block President-Elect Joe Biden’s certification by the Congress.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh concluded his interview by expecting that Trump might resort to other measures to prevent  the Congressional session, by internally preventing the meeting from convening or externally by using force, in a last attempt to stay in his position as the President of the United States; pointing out that the US has the worst electoral system in the world, and predicting that the expected protests that would take place in most US States might cause a civil war.
