Within the Campaign for Early Detection of Breast Cancer ‘Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum’ and King Hussein Cancer Foundation Organize Awareness Seminar on Breast Cancer Prevention
AMMAN - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), in collaboration with Jordan Breast Cancer Program; supported by King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), organized an awareness seminar entitled ‘October Campaign for Early Detection of Breast Cancer/ Behind Every Number is a Life’ for TAG.Global female employees.
Through this campaign, the Jordan Breast Cancer Program seeks to join participating Arab countries’ efforts to save women’s lives by encouraging early detection in cooperation with all relevant institutions and associations.
The seminar was presented by Ms. Kholoud Al-Arouri, a certified trainer at KHCC, who briefed the attendees on statistics and facts related to breast cancer and the importance of early detection as key to prevention and treatment.
Al-Arouri stated that although awareness on the importance of early detection of breast cancer increased, yet, awareness about prevention is still at low-level, adding that many habits and behaviors practiced by individuals are among the most important cancer causing risk factors.
She also pointed out that higher breast cancer risk is associated with individuals’ lifestyle including smoking, eating unhealthy food, lack of physical activity and inappropriate exposure to the sunlight, indicating that many health habits could lower breast cancer risks.
Al-Arouri expressed the Foundation’s appreciation to the role of TAG-KF in hosting awareness and educational seminars for local community, affirming the Foundation's readiness to continue cooperation with the Forum in spreading awareness.
At the end of the event, Al-Arouri answered all questions and inquiries, she offered advice, and she distributed KHCF handbooks and guides to all participants.
The seminar is part of TAG-KF’s efforts in supporting the Jordan Breast Cancer Program’s activities conducted in conjunction with the breast cancer awareness campaign, an annual international health campaign organized every October to raise awareness on the importance of early detection.
The seminar was organized in accordance with the preventive and precautionary measures adopted against Coronavirus (COVID-19) including social distancing and limited number of attendees.
