‘Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation’ Patronizes the 1st VEX IQ National Competition

AMMAN – The VEX IQ Challenge 2020-Jordan, the first national competition for qualifying the eligible teams to participate in the global challenge in the United States, was launched with an official patronage of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation (TAGUCI) at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF). 

The competition which is jointly organized by Bright Engineers and Target Scientific, with the participation from a number of teams from schools and educational institutes, reflects HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh’s interest in creating an innovative generation.

Deputizing for Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, Dean of TAGUCI, Dr. Muntaha Bani Hani, underlined TAGUCI’s keenness to support innovation and innovators, stating that TAGUCI provides the necessary educational tools and programs for its students to enable them to develop their knowledge and skills towards the future of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

Furthermore, Bani Hani congratulated the winning teams in VEX Robotic and Intelligence Challenge Competition, affirming that the nation and the whole world will receive new scientists who will develop technology in all fields.

For his part, Bright Engineers General Manager, Mr. Majid Hamad, stated that VEX IQ is one of the most important international championships in the field of Robot Design and Programming which stimulates the concept of science, technology, engineering and math (STEAM) where teams aged between 8-14 years from different schools, institutes, private and public educational institutions concerned with robotic science and technology compete.  

Meanwhile, Target Scientific General Manager, Eng. Samir Ismail, said that the main goal of this competition is to develop innovative and creative thinking as well as developing teamwork skills and their ability to interact positively with each other. He also pointed out that VEX IQ Competition is the first of its kind in Jordan, and it will have a significant impact in strengthening the Kingdom’s position in the field of science and robotics. 

The Regional Director of VEX Company, Mr. Saleh Yasin, expressed his happiness in Jordan’s participation in VEX Competition, noting that thousands of teams from more than 60 countries around the world participate in this event, adding that the first phase of the Championship is held at local level to qualify the winning teams to take part in the global competition held annually in the United States. 

From Jordan, the two winning teams in the competition which qualified to the global competition include the Universal Civilizations Academy’s team which received the Excellence Award and the Creativity Foundation’s team which received the Excellence Award for Elementary Stage.
