Zmokhol at a discussion -lunch with members of RDCL world: “to work as solidarity groups”

Tripoli - The Association of Lebanese Business People in the World (RDCL World), chaired by Dr. Fouad Zmokhol hosted a discussion-lunch with members of the Executive Board of RDCL World, Advisory Board and Board of Trustees of the Association.  Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh (a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) who joined the Board of Trustees of RDCL World)  also attended.

The lunch was attended by Vice Governor of the Banque du Liban Ra’ed Sharaf El-Den, former head of the State Shura Council Shukri Sader, Director of the National News Agency Lor Suleiman, Antoine Hakim, Pierre Farah, Wissam Hajij, Lamia Bassat, Eli Nisnas, Joe Kanaan, Dr. Robert Eid, Dr. Nazih Garios, George Al Gharib, Dr. Fadi Asairan and Fadi Samaha.

The Association announce, in a statement, that the attendees discussed The Lebanon's social and economic crisis, the Middle East and the world. They addressed "the issue of the crisis and tension between the United States and China and the extent of their economic, financial and commercial impact on our region and Lebanon. They also shared debate on the global crisis referred to as the new conflict and the cold war that could have a negative impact on the financial and global economy and could lead to a collapse or global financial restructuring before 2020."

Moreover, there was a debate on oil prices, the recent meeting of OPEC, the new import and export existing in the countries of America and their impact on the Gulf economies. The attendees stressed that "the only solution to face the blurry changes is through synergy and concerted efforts in the Middle East, in order to form a unified Arab front and solidarity in order to achieve self-stability and stability in the region."

The attendees welcomed the “Iraqi political agreement that led to the election of the President of the Republic and the nomination of a prime minister" and hoped that this would "have good signs and yield positively on Lebanon in order to solve the crisis and form the Lebanon - Government as soon as possible, with a priority to develop a unified socio-economic rescue plan, implement necessary reforms and resolve growing problems in living."

Dr. Zmokhol spoke about the importance of the Lebanon joining the World Trade Organization (WTO Agreement) and said, "In this context, we asked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh to help us to achieve this goal", stressing that "it is necessary that the Lebanon rejoins the WTO Agreement because it achieves significant economic and commercial benefits in favor of its national economy."

He argued for "working as solidarity groups not individually” adding "we encourage the building of John Fancher partnerships and strategic agreements between existing institutions to reduce fixed costs, develop and differentiate and diversify their products and markets," he said.

In conclusion, and on behalf of the attendees, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was awarded the 'Symbol of RDCL World' by Dr. Zmokhol in recognition of his assistance and his joining at the Board of Trustees of RDCL World.
