Establishment of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Creativity and Innovation at Al-Bayan University in Baghdad

BAGHDAD - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the establishment of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Creativity and Innovation at Al Bayan University in Baghdad.

The announcement came during a press conference held in the presence of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Abdul Razaq Al-Issa, former Deputy Prime Minister in Jordan HE Dr. Jawad Anani, Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan HE Ms. Safia Al-Suhail in addition to a host of academics and interested parties.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride at signing the MoU for the establishment of a university college for creativity; an educational institution required by all countries nowadays, noting that the basis of its mission is to graduate those who will add competitive value to professions and improvement of livelihoods for adapting to the requirements of the knowledge age.

Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that relying on quality would guarantee progress in a mechanism that qualifies knowledge creation educational institutions to produce the knowledge that would guarantee the  shift from a civil state into a creativity and innovation state.

He also noted the importance of following scientific quality standards and applicable implementation in selecting curriculum at colleges and universities and the necessity for capacity development of  educational professionals. He also highlighted the importance of embracing creativity by supporting the various creative science projects for future scientists.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh reiterated the readiness of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization to offer all its resources and expertise at the service of Iraq and its people with the aim of achieving a knowledge production and knowledge exporting society, stating that Iraq is a cradle of civilization with limitless opportunities for bringing the country back to its former glory.

For his part, Dr. Al-Issa noted that the MoU for the establishment of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation and Creativity in Iraq comes "within the cooperation framework and strategic coordination in the field of education”.

He added that the Ministry would make available all required components of the required scientific environment, characterized by academic creativity and innovation, by signing MoUs and agreements with educational institutions concerned with quality and performance, saying that the Ministry will benefit from the experience of educational institutions in the region and globally.

In the same context, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh visited Al-Bayan University where he was received by University President Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Ameri, and delivered a lecture entitled “Civil State to Creativity State” during which he highlighted the importance of creativity, the means to progress a civil state and the mechanism for transformation into a creativity state.

Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced the establishment of Cambridge English Qualifications' Courses and Exams Center at the University in addition to a special center for teaching ICT skills; Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Diploma in IT skills (TAGDIT).
