ASCA Issues Updated Electronic Version of “Arab Certified Public Accountant” Curriculum

AMMAN-----April 16, 2013-----The Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA) issued an updated version of the “Arab Certified Public Accountant” (ACPA) curriculum, which was issued electronically for the first time.

The society took all the necessary steps required to assure the curriculum’s compliance with the best and highest international levels and standards in this regard.  Furthermore, the curriculum has been prepared and reviewed by an elite group of Arab and foreign professionals and academics.

The new curriculum contains four main papers, as opposed the old curriculum which only had three. The papers are: 1.) Economics and Finance, 2.) Accounting, 3.) Auditing and 4.) Legislation.

The ACPA exams will be held in December of 2013. It is worth mentioning that the Arab Certified Public Accountant certificate is awarded by the International Body of Examinations- Cambridge University. Moreover, the ACPA has earned recognition and accreditation from a number of Arab countries such as Jordan, UAE, Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Qatar, Libya, Sudan, Lebanon and Oman. The Society has been recognized amongst the certified professional bodies for the practice of auditing and its certificate has been accredited for the licensing the practice of accounting.

Recently, the Society added the word “international” to become ‘The International Arab Society of Certified Accountants’. This change matches its global position and is in accordance with the services it provides on an international level.

The Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA) was established on January 12, 1984 as a non-profit professional accounting association in London, UK. It was formally registered in Amman on February 24, 1994 under the name “The Arab Society of Certified Accountants”. ASCA aims at advancing the profession of accounting, auditing and other related disciplines in the countries of the Arab League. ASCA also aims at maintaining the professional independence of accountants and their protection, as well as the application of professional supervisory measures as a way to elevate the professions of accounting and auditing. It also aims at developing and facilitating the continuous spread and exchange of professional and technical information among accountants by holding conferences, meetings, seminars, training courses and academic gatherings.
